Classroom Timer
Using Classroom Timers In the Play Area
Teachers realize the importance of allowing children to spend quality time role playing. Children should spend an ample amount of time working, followed by an ample amount of time playing. Unless teachers set a time frame for playtime children will stay in a fun loving mood all day. However, this is not the way the traditional classroom is set up to function. For example, daycare centers have play areas and each child is allowed to play in different centers for a certain amount of time. They know that once the classroom timer goes off it is time to switch centers. This is how daycare teachers teach younger children to share and enjoy variety.
Classroom Timer is Perfect for Test Time
In elementary, middle, high school, and college timers are said to be the teacher’s best friend. This is true especially during test time. The teacher gives each student the same amount of time to complete his or her test. Some tests are divided into segments, which means the each student may have a set amount of time to complete on section of the test, and a few extra minutes to complete another section. Timers help to keep teachers organized in their already busy day. Some tests are extra long and they require more time. In this case teachers can set the timer for a longer period, or they can use more than one.
Classroom timers are the perfect way to say “stop”, “slow down”, “turn”, “come back”, or “continue”.They can be used inside and outside the classroom. They can be used to give stop and go commands or for giving instructions. The way the timer is used in the classroom depends on the teacher, and what he or she wants to use it for. Timers can also be used to let students know that the next sound they hear will be the dismissal bell.
Using a Classroom Timer in the Lunch room
Schools have millions of children to feed world wide, and without implementing a starting and finishing point every child would not keep feed. The majority of teachers take their timer with them when they go in the lunchroom. Their students know exactly how long they have to eat their breakfast and lunch. The teachers set their timer and when the buzzer goes off, the students know that it is time to pick up their trays, empty them in the trash, and take them to the window. Children can be trained by the sound of the classroom timer.
Classroom timers serve a thousand and one purposes. They are not only for the classroom; they can be used for any purpose. They are used during physical education by the gym teacher to time a student on his or her running speed. Timers are used by the art teacher in the art room. When students have designed a beautiful painting and it needs to dry teachers set the classroom timer so students can move on to the next phase in their art work.
